CreatorChanger is a small application that converts the Creator and Type of files. It operates by opening the target file and changing the Creator and Type so that the appropriate application can open the file. The finder will automatically update the icon on the desktop. If file icons are not updated, try moving the file by putting it in a new folder and then bringing it back out. The file should launch the appropriate app anyway when double clicked.
This version features seven permanent file types in the Creator menu:
JPEGView
Adobe Photoshop
Adobe Illustrator 5
SimpleText
Microsoft Word
Sparkle
GIF Converter
If you would like to give the file a different type, choose Custom from the File menu and a dialog will come up with fields for Creator and Type. Type in the ones you want and hit OK. The Creator menu will now show that a custom Creator is being used.
Unfortunately, this version does not have drag and drop functionality, that will come in the next release, version 2.0. However, it is still quite useful, especially when you download a file that shows up as a generic document.
